Status of Maintenance Activities - Ulm, Mannheim and Karlsruhe are up and running again

In the status description below we keep you informed about the current status of maintenance activities. We will inform all users of the bwCloud by mail once maintenance activities are completed. Please also note the information provided here: maintenance notice.

bwCloud Region Ulm

• CentOS Stream 9 and OpenStack Zed have been installed on our systems.
• Functional tests have been completed

• Region Ulm is active again and users associated with region Ulm are activated again

bwCloud Region Mannheim

• CentOS Stream 9 and OpenStack Zed have been installed on our systems.
• Functional tests have been completed

• Region Mannheim is active again and users associated with region Mannheim are activated again

bwCloud Region Karlsruhe

09.04.2024:

• CentOS Stream 9 and OpenStack Zed have been installed on our systems.
• The complete content of bwCloud Region Karlsruhe has been transferred to a new Ceph-Storage (09.04.-12.04.2024)

12.04.2024:

• Final transfer to the new Ceph-Storage is currently still being worked on and scheduled to be finished beginning of next week. We will continue to keep you updated on the status.
• We are testing the updated bwCloud Karlsruhe in combination with the new storage.

15.04.2024:

• Region Karlruhe is active again and users associated with region Karlsruhe are activated again

bwCloud Region Freiburg

Tuesday, 09.04.2024

Status at the end of the first day of maintenance activities is as follows:

• Maintenance activities have been started.
• Test concerning power outage has been completed.
• All users associated with region Freiburg are inactive and all instances are stopped.
• CentOS Stream 9 and OpenStack Zed have been installed on our systems.

Wednesday, 10.04.2024

The second day of maintenance activities has started:

• Maintenance activities are being continued.
• bwCloud Freiburg is running with the new versions of OpenStack and CentOS.
• Dividing the Volumes between the two bwCloud versions is being prepared.
• Initial functional tests have been successfully performed.

Thursday, 11.04.2024

Maintenance is being continued.

• We are testing the new bwCloud Freiburg.
• There are still problems with DNS.
• The second Dashboard, providing access to the old bwCloud Freiburg has not yet been linked to bwIDM.

Friday, 12.04.2024

• Further tests have been scheduled.
• Provisioning of the VM Backups is still in progress.

Monday, 15.04.2024

• Backup Images have been created of the instances. These are now available for the projects associated to them.
• We divided our compute resources now between the two clouds.
• All users associated with region Freiburg are now activated again.
• Both versions of the bwCloud Freiburg are available.
